Library Code of Conduct

Appropriate Conduct in the Library

Welcome to the Library at Cockrell Hill Elementary School. Our primary goal in the Library is to help students succeed with information, and our policies related to appropriate use of the Library are written to achieve this purpose. Whether you are visiting or you are a student working on a class assignment, meeting with your fellow students, reading, or relaxing, we want your Library experience to be a positive point in your day.

Everyone is expected to respect the rights and privileges of others. The student’s responsibilities for achieving a positive learning library is as follows:

    1. Food, drinks and gum are not allowed in the library including Dum-Dums and Blow Pops.
    2. Do not create a disturbance by making noise, talking loudly, shouting, pushing, or any other rowdy behavior.
    3. Designated Quiet Areas are for quiet reading and studying. Extensive, loud conversations, joint study activity and tutoring are not permitted in designated Quiet Areas of the Library.
    4. Actively work on class work, homework, research, projects, or reading while in the library.
    5. Use the library computers and other technology without violating the DeSoto ISD Student Use of Technology policy.
    6. Library users are expected to talk quietly. Excessive socializing is inappropriate and discouraged.
    7. To prevent disturbance from ring tones, cell phones must be placed on vibrate and the sound turned off when entering the Library.
    8. The privilege of using the library will be restricted if a student violates the code of conduct
    9. Take pride in our library and dispose of trash on floor and tables.
    10. Stack books neatlly in the middle of the library tables.

VISITORS TO THE LIBRARY

As a DeSoto ISD elementary school, we welcome visitors to the Library. Generally, visitors are expected to follow the same rules and general expectations as students regarding courteous behavior, school rules, and interactions with school staff. Failure to comply with these expectations will result in the visitor being asked to leave the Library.
